A New Addition to the Clan

No, I did not give birth and Jeff and I are not expecting.  But, we have a new addition to the Catungal branch of our family tree!  Richard, my lil bro, wed Melissa last November!  The newly weds exchanged vows at the Aiea Kingdom Hall, then we celebrated at Mandalay Restaurant in town.  (Whenever I see/hear "Mandalay," I think of the Seinfeld show and George yelling "Vandelay!")  Their wedding had cute and fun features, such as the photo puzzle (guests wrote advice on the back of the puzzle pieces) and Abe's leather pants story.  Congratulations to Richard and Mel!  As I wrote on the puzzle piece: "Clothe yourselves with love."  May Jehovah bless your marriage!

Hello!

It has been a very long time since I updated our blog and so much has happened within the last few months!  I will post the highlights in random order in the next few posts.  

Rainbows, Trucks, and Lunches

Why are they called manapua trucks? Shouldn't they be called manapua vans? I ate from a truck for the first time, in a long time. I chose the wrong truck! The noodles were disappointing. The pancit I ate on the following day, though, were the bombdiggity! Yum!

Step by Step

Remember that song by the New Kids on the Block? If you do, then you're old! Hahaha, just kidding. (Not really!) Jeff and I took a brisk stroll and tried out a pedometer app. Quite nifty. After, we ate ice cream and cancelled out any benefits we gained from the stroll.

Hello Kitty Tween Party

Co-hosted a tween shindig with Aunty Robbie, who kindly let us use her house. Thanks to her and to Jeff's HK whisker-drawing skills, the party was a success. We had a fun afternoon of games, crafts, and cupcakes... The girls took home goody bags filled with candy, a mini-craft kit, and a personalized keychain. Best of all, the girls made new friends amongst peers who also have spiritual interests .

Last month, we watched the last part of Lisa Matsumoto's trilogy: 'Happily Eva Afta.'  I'm glad that many friends were able to join us and enjoy the non-stop laughter and local-style humor.  Jeff and I both liked the Filipino Shoemakers the best!  Kudos to the cast and crew for a job well done!  Please bring back the play soon...

Parent date!

After the show, our group headed to Manoa for some dinner.  The day before, my hubby decided to go on a juice fast/cleanse. He made it through one whole day without eating food!  Only juice.  I was worried about how he would handle dinner with the group.  

Dwayne took us to this awesome Korean restaurant.  I suggested that Jeff order soup (at least its liquid, right?).  Being the supportive wife that I am, I ordered a cow-size kalbi plate.

Needless to say, one sniff of that kalbi ended Jeff's fast.  Before long he was sharing that chunk of kalbi with me... and afterwards, we feasted on some ridiculously delicious desserts from a nearby Fresh bakery.  Like I said, "His fast was gone fast."
