Thanks to the Gadianos for hosting a fun evening of food, karaoke, & upbuilding association. It was a privilege to spend time with the Grants before they move on to their next assignment.

Our Princess Leaves the Kingdom...

Actually, Kinohi is leaving Hawaii and heading to Guam/Micronesia to serve where the need is greater.  We are super happy and proud of you, lil bro.  Oh wait, you are a self-proclaimed man now!  I think the cute princess cake just validates that you are secure in your manhood.  So, go forth to the scattered islands in the Pacific and use your pretty star wand to spread pink and purple cheer to all the natives!

I heart S.T.O.

The State cut the pay of Speech-Language Pathologists & other department of education workers. As part of the deal, they gave us a bunch of STO hours (supplemental time off). I used some STO to renew my driver license last week. Apparently my astigmatism is worsening in my ripe old age because I had to take the vision test about five times. The nice DMV guy kept telling me, "Try line 6 again... Ummm... Try again... Try again... Maybe the screen is blurry. Here wipe it with a tissue. Try again..."

(On a positive note, my union negotiated really hard with the State, resulting in a $0.23 increase in my latest pay stub. Yeee-haw.)

Anyway, today we spent my day off running errands & ended it at our (surprisingly clean & empty) Ewa Beach beach park.

My vision limitations struck again:

Me, "Look babe! A turtle!"

Jeff, "That's a stick."

Me, "Look babe! Another turtle! It's bobbing it's head in the water!"

Jeff, "That's floating rubbish."

Okay, maybe the beach wasn't totally clean, but at least the rubbish looked like cute marine life.

Jungle Baby Shower

Congrats to first-time parents Jenny & Rennie! We can't wait to meet baby Robyn. Here are some shots from their jungle themed shower. Most of the sisters wore animal print. Props to all the friends who helped make the party a beautiful success. There were plenty of "wild" details: a huge parrot painting, home-made cakes, cute favors, abundance of plants, and more! Kudos for a job well done.
